Professional & Personal Background
Sheenah has worked for the Education & Community Division- Education Department since June 19th, 2019. However, her prior position under the Housing Department she had since February 20th, 2019, consisted of similar responsibilities. She now works within the Occupational Leadership Development Program where her responsibilities have expanded.
Her frame of mind was heavily influenced by her hero and grandmother, the late Mary Daniels. She learned many things from her but mainly about grace, forgiveness, prayer and faith through teachings. “It was a special kind of nobility that attaches itself to those who serve others at a cost to themselves,” Sheenah has said of her grandmother. She saw her do it time and time again; that pulled at her heart strings and burnt those memories in her mind.
However, due to the guidance of her grandmother; she decided to come home to the Forest County Potawatomi Community and do what she could to give back to the community that has done so much for her. She decided the best way she could give back to her people would be in an approach to helping that would be provided in an informed, respectful, and humble manner.
Using initiative, creativity, and our cultural traditions to improve tribal memberships individual conditions, Sheenah spends her days developing areas to improve accommodating instruction and learning styles. She assesses programs, as well as the program participants, to discover what the individual enjoys, their weaknesses, and their strengths. While working with the participant, she establishes goals and creates an action plan that will also give them the economic and intellectual growth they need to reach their target. The target is a career that will be rewarding to the participant, based on his or her individuality.
Sheenah attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay where she received her Associate Degree in Supervisory Management. She then transferred to Concordia University in Mequon, WI where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Business Management. Before having this position, Sheenah has worked in the compliance area of different organizations for a little over 16 years combined. The Casino Industry makes up for 15 of those.
